Now is the time to buy children's products

The word on the street is that major retailers are going to be deeply discounting children's products -- practically giving it away. So many have assumed that the recently passed CPSIA will affect small manufacturers more. Some have gone as far as believing it was a massive conspiracy to put small businesses out of business. If you are a small business that believes this, don't flatter yourself. Wal-mart could care less about you.

The truth of the matter is that Big Box retailers will have very little to no product on their shelves in a month. They are currently taking inventory with plans to return product to their manufacturers or sell it off by February 10th. The manufacturers that make product for these retailers will be left with unsellable, worthless merchandise. Some of them will face astronomical chargebacks for the deep discounts. Those manufacturers face the possibility of going out of business too. They will lay people off at a time we can't afford it.

So if you are in need of any child related products this next year, buy it now. In fact, buy your Christmas now. There should be some unbelievable deals coming in the next few weeks. The stuff left on the shelf will leave few choices and be very expensive.
